The UFT will be open to serve members on a modified schedule throughout the summer.

The Department of Education’s Open Market Transfer Plan gives UFT members the opportunity to transfer to a different school.

Eligible educators can deduct from their federal income taxes up to $300 of unreimbursed expenses from 2023 for books, supplies, computer equipment and other materials they use in the classroom. The agency raised the deduction from $250 to $300 for tax year 2022.

The Catastrophe Major Medical Plan, sponsored by NYSUT Member Benefits, offers additional coverage for expenses that a basic health plan might not. In-service members may enroll between Sept. 8 and Oct. 13, 2023.

The city Office of Payroll Administration has informed the UFT that the monthly pre-tax limit for commuter benefits has increased from $280 to $300, the new IRS limit.

You should submit your receipts for Teacher's Choice purchases made between Aug. 1, 2022, and Jan. 13, 2023, along with the Teacher’s Choice Accountability Form detailing your purchases, by Jan. 17, 2023, to your payroll secretary.
